“Cascade Summer” is store’s staff pick

Thrilled that one of my favorite book stores in the world, Paulina Springs in Sisters, has endorsed my new book about hiking Oregon’s Pacific Crest Trail.

Here’s what Bunny Thompson wrote about the book:

Cascade Summer My Adventure on Oregon’s Pacific Crest Trail (Bob Welch, $22.95, memoir)

Bob Welch is a speaker, author, award-winning columnist (he writes a very popular column for the Eugene Register) and a sailor. He has written a book about a hot topic right now (aka Cheryl Strayed’s book Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, an Oprah pick and NYT bestseller). While others may aspire to walk the entire PCT from Mexico border to Canada’s border (2,650 mi), Bob and his brother-in-law wanted to walk Oregon from border to border on the PCT. That’s 452 miles to be done in two 2-week segments (Bob a journalist and his brother-in-law a doctor, had jobs and family to contend with). Piece of cake-right? You’ll find yourself laughing over some of the escapades, empathizing over the blisters, agonizing over the snow, and enjoying the eclectic friends they met along the way. This is a book for those of us who enjoy challenges, but understand they are just that-a challenge. And we also know that with that challenge comes a few hardships come along.
